Important: Before we send you any SMS text messages or place any calls using an automatic telephone dialing system or prerecorded/artificial voice, we will obtain your separate express written consent through a distinct opt-in mechanism. This consent mechanism will:

  • Clearly identify the sender (Rent Ready S8 / Section 8 Success LLC)
  • Describe the type and approximate frequency of messages you will receive
  • Disclose that message and data rates may apply
  • State that consent is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services
  • Provide opt-out instructions

Agreeing to this Privacy Policy alone does not constitute consent to receive automated SMS messages or autodialed phone calls. Separate, affirmative opt-in is required.

Please allow up to 10 business days for opt-out requests to take effect. Opting out of marketing communications will not affect transactional messages required to provide the Services.

8.1 Rights Available to All Users

Regardless of your location, you may:

  • Request deletion of your account and associated personal information (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Withdraw consent for any processing based on your consent. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before withdrawal.

Sensitive Personal Information (government-issued ID) is used solely for identity verification and is not used to infer characteristics, for profiling, or for any secondary purpose.

California Consumer Rights: California residents have the right to:

  1. Know: Request disclosure of categories and specific pieces of personal information collected about you.
  2. Delete: Request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions.
  3. Correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
  4. Opt Out of Sale or Sharing: We do not sell personal information. You have the right to opt out of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising by contacting us or using a Global Privacy Control signal (see Section 13).
  5. Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: You have the right to direct us to limit use of your sensitive personal information to what is necessary to provide the Services.
  6. Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights.

Response Timelines: We will acknowledge receipt within 10 business days and respond substantively within 45 calendar days. If additional time is needed (up to 90 days total), we will notify you of the extension.

8.3 Virginia Residents — VCDPA

Under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, Virginia residents have the right to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of their personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and profiling in furtherance of significant decisions. If your appeal is denied, you may contact the Virginia Attorney General's Office.

8.4 Colorado Residents — CPA

Under the Colorado Privacy Act, Colorado residents have the right to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of their personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and profiling. 8.5 Connecticut Residents — CTDPA

Under the Connecticut Data Privacy Act, Connecticut residents have the right to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of their personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and profiling. 8.6 Texas, Oregon, Montana, and Other State Residents

Residents of Texas (TDPSA), Oregon (OCPA), Montana (MCDPA), and other states with comprehensive consumer privacy laws have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain copies of their personal data, and to opt out of certain data processing activities. 9. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

When information is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymize it. You may request earlier deletion as described in Section 8.

10. International Data Transfers

Your personal information may be processed in the United States, Canada, or other countries where data protection laws may differ from those in your home country.

If you are located in the EU, EEA, or UK, we rely on the following mechanisms for any transfers of your personal data outside the EEA/UK:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs): We use the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (June 2021 version) for personal data transferred from the EEA to third countries. For UK transfers, we use the UK Addendum to the SCCs issued by the ICO.
  • Transfer Impact Assessments: Where required, we conduct transfer impact assessments and implement supplementary technical and organizational measures as appropriate.

11. Security of Your Information

  • Secure credential storage (passwords are hashed; full payment card numbers are never stored by us)

While we work diligently to protect your information, no internet transmission or electronic storage system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. You use the Site and Services at your own risk, and we encourage you to use strong, unique passwords for your account.

12. Children's Privacy

Our Site and Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, you may use the Services only with verifiable parental or guardian consent.

13. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Do Not Track (DNT): We do not currently respond to browser-level "Do Not Track" signals, as there is no uniform industry standard for how such signals should be interpreted or honored.

Global Privacy Control (GPC): We recognize the Global Privacy Control (GPC) as a valid opt-out signal under applicable law, including the CCPA/CPRA. If your browser or device transmits a GPC signal when you visit our Site, we treat that signal as a request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising for that browser or device. You do not need to submit a separate opt-out request. The GPC opt-out applies per device and per browser.

14. Automated Decision-Making

We do not engage in solely automated decision-making — including profiling — that produces legal effects or similarly significant effects on you. All decisions that materially affect your access to the Services or your contractual relationship with us involve meaningful human review.

15. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data security breach that is reasonably likely to result in risk to your rights, interests, or financial security, we will act promptly in accordance with applicable law:

  • Regulatory notification: We will notify relevant regulatory authorities within the timeframe required by applicable law (within 72 hours under GDPR where feasible; within applicable timeframes under state breach notification laws).
  • Individual notification: We will notify affected individuals without undue delay as required by applicable law, including a description of the nature of the breach, the categories and approximate number of records affected, the likely consequences, and the measures taken or proposed to address the breach.

16. Modifications to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:

Your continued use of the Site or Services after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to the revised policy, please discontinue use and contact us to close your account.
